This collection of Facemold Reference Information for the 23" My Twinn Dolls was compiled from many different sources and contributions from many collectors. If you have any information to add, please email us at westportdolls@yahoo.com.
June 2018: While the "post My Twinn closing" China re-pour "blank" heads are no longer being made/sold, many were, including many pieces of the rare faces that were formerly only made during the Denver Era. This has complicated the collectible market. Be educated and know what you are buying. The "My Twinn History" is here to help you learn. That said, there are a few new artists working with the Twinns that are creating lovely dolls with the new heads, so if a doll appeals to you, go ahead and enjoy! NOTE that the FACEMOLD REFERENCE CHART below does not tabulate the "Post My Twinn Closing" China re-pour blank heads that were poured and you can assume that there are such re-pours in circulation even of the rare Denver faces. The only mold that we know was not re-poured was the prototype "Natalie".
Scalp imprints may include extra numbers not included in these listings. There are more than one physical mold for a face type and it is thought the numbers may refer to a specific mold within a face type).
Remember the inscribed neck dates are part of the mold and do not indicate the date of the doll. The body tag is a better indicator of the date the doll was assembled, however bodies are often replaced for repair or by collectors seeking to match the head to a body from the same "era". A knowledge of the history is an essential tool in understanding these collectible dolls.

*Ariel Variants
According to long time collector Mary Pat, 1998 neck date, JD(O), wide-eyed Ariel variant was initially named "Melissa" by Deb F., who named many of the facemolds. My Twinn later launched the Loveable Sister line including a doll named "Melissa", which was a 1996 neck date, JD(N) facemold known by collectors as "Rose", and thus the name confusion.

** Caitlin - Rosemary Variant
There are differing opinions whether there is a real difference between the Rosemary and Caitlin facemolds. Some collectors believe that Caitlin was the original facemold, and is the facemold of the Loveable Sister Caitlin. However, other collectors believe it is just a difference in the appearance of the eye sockets, some being stretched more after insertion of the eyes resulting in the open-eyed appearance of the 'Caitlins', or perhaps the way they eyes naturally set in a different batch of vinyl. Since the Caitlin and Rosemary facemolds do not have distinguishing neck dates and scalp markings the question is unresolved. The following photo shows the clear difference in the eyes sockets of these beautiful Denver girls of very similar coloring and hairstyle, no matter what they are called.
*** Lenora and Michelle
Both Lenora and Michelle have head stamps with the name 'Molly', but can be distinguished by the neck dates and additional codes present on the pates. Check the chart carefully to distinguish these two beauties.
**** Prototypes
Ex- MT doll artist Connie Marshall has shared that there were prototype face molds that were never brought into production. Nathalie, Haley and Caroline are three that are known.Connie recalls painting several, including one that had dimples, and a smiling older face with wrinkles and teeth, but the whereabouts of these dolls are unknown.
